Traffic jams follow rain; more rain forecast

LAHORE: The City on Wednesday received rain while the Met office predicted similar weather condition for the next 24 hours.

Met officials said a westerly wave is affecting central and upper parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts on Thursday. They predicted widespread more rain/thunderstorm (with snowfall over hills) in Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while at scattered places in Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions. Cold and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

Rain started in the afternoon and continued till late night. Following the continuous rain, traffic jams were witnessed on various major City roads including Canal Bank Road, Ferozepur Road, The Mall, Edgerton Road, Multan Road, Shalimar Link Road, Allama Iqbal Road, Ferozepur Road, Jail Road, Model Town Link Road and, etc. Rainfall was recorded at several cities including Moenjodaro 50, Larkana 41, Rohri, Jacobabad 30, Sukkur 24, Dadu 19, Padidan 07, Shaheed Benazirabad 01, Khuzdar 45, Lasbella 39, Pasni 28, Turbat 24, Sibbi 21, Kalat 19, Gwadar 16, Jiwani 15, Ormara, Barkhan 13, Zhob 12, Quetta (Sheikh Manda 11, Samungli 03), Dalbandin 10, Panjgur 06, Nokkundi 02, Parachinar 28, Bannu 24, Peshawar (City 21, AP 16), Cherat 13, Dir (upper 10, lower 08), Risalpur, Kalam, Malamjabba 08, Mirkhani 07, Kakul 06, Chitral 05, D.I.Khan, Kohat Pattan, Saidu Sharif 04, Balakot 03, Drosh 01, Kahnpur 26, Rahim Yar Khan 21 Bahawalpur (AP 16, City 13), DG Khan 12, Kotaddu 09, Jhang, Layyah 08, Joharabad 07, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Chakwal, Multan 05, Bhakkar, Mangla 04, Islamabad (Bokra, Golra 04, AP, Saidpur 03, Zp 01), Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 04, Chaklala 01), Okara, Sargodha 03, Murree, Kamra, Hafizabad, Faisalabad 02, Kasur, Sahiwal, Noorpurthal, Toba Tek Singh, Jhelum 01, Rawalakot 08, Muzaffarabad 05, Garidupatta 04 and Bagrote 01 while snowfall was recorded at Kalam and Malamjabba.

Met officials said Wednesday’s lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Kalam where mercury dropped down to -13°C while in Lahore it was 10°C and maximum was 19.2°C.
