Nawaz getting treatment of his choice: minister
LAHORE : Punjab Law Minister Basharat Raja has said that former prime minister will be provided every medical facility as per his requirement.
“When best treatment is being provided to him in the country, why does he need to go abroad” said the Law Minister while talking to media at Punjab Assembly cafeteria on Tuesday just a day before the commencing of the PA session.
The Law Minister, while responding to a question about the treatment of the former PM abroad said already Nawaz Sharif was being provided the medical treatment of his choice and government would take best measures in this regard.
To a question about the arrest of Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan by NAB and the issue related to his Production Order, the Law Minister said it was the prerogative of the Speaker to issue these orders. Regarding the further legislation and amendment to Local Government laws, the minister said that the proposed draft was prepared while Abdul Aleem Khan was in office.
Basharat, who is also holding the portfolio of the Local Governments, stated that he himself was reviewing the draft and would send it to the department concerned soon. To a query about nomination of Opposition Leader in PA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif as PAC Chairman, Raja said that the government had set its policy in this regard and it wanted to move ahead along with the Opposition.
He said it was the joint responsibility of the government and the Opposition to run the House. Briefing media about the legislation in the PA session commencing from Wednesday (today), the Law Minister said the government would table Conflict of Interest Bill and many others in it.
Besides, the House would also pass resolution over the successful trip of the Saudi Crown Prince to Pakistan, he told. standing committee: A meeting of senate’s standing committee on railways was held at the Railways Headquarters here on Tuesday. Committee’s chairman Muhammad Asad Ali Khan Junejo presided over the meeting which was particularly pertaining to railway workshops. The committee was briefed about the structure of railways. The committee also paid a visit to railway workshops, Mughalpura.
