Girls clinch all six gold medals at MNSUA’s first convocation

MULTAN: Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSUA) has awarded degrees to 201 students and gold medals to six students at the varsity’s first convocation here on Friday.

The graduated students belonged to the pioneer sessions of 2012-2016 and 2013-2017. Girls received all the six gold medals. Ayesha Zahid and Anam from 2012-2016 session received gold and silver medal respectively while Quratulain got the bronze medal. Shifa Nayab from 2013-2017 session received the gold medal, Samina Iqbal silver and Saba Wahid bronze medal.

University’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Ali said that the marks or degrees do not matter rather the character-building for the grooming of the students.

He said that girls’ students captured all the medals which proved their competency.

Two cops held for harassing women: Muzaffarabad police have arrested two cops, including an SHO, for harassing and illegally keeping the women at the police station without any complaint against them. Muzaffarabad SDPO Iqbal Khan conducted an inquiry against SHO Ali Gilani and trainee ASI Munir Javed.

Following the inquiry, it was revealed to him that both the accused cops raided the house of accused M Younas who was wanted to the police in criminal cases. The accused was not present at his house but the cops took 5-6 women into custody and brought them to the police station.

Later, a court bailiff recovered them from the police custody. City Police Officer Imram Mehmood ordered the arrest of the accused cops.

Protest against termination: Employees of an insurance company observed complete strike on the appeal of its union. They took out a big rally and protested in front of the residence of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday. The rally was taken out from Chowk Nawan Sher and culminated at Babul Quraish.

They were protesting against the termination of sales officers. They announced continuing their protest until the reinstatement of countrywide sales officers.
