GCU, University of Baltistan sign MoU

LAHORE: Government College University (GCU) Lahore has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with University of Baltistan, Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, for research and academic collaboration.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and UoBS Vice Chancellor Dr Prof Muhammad Naeem Khan signed the accord at a ceremony organised by the GCU Directorate of Academic Planning and External Links (AP&EL) at the University’s vice chancellor office. GCU Registrar Saboor Ahmad Khan and former Punjab Higher Education Commission chairman Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin were present.

According the six-point accord, both the universities have agreed to launch a joint research support programme whereby they would host students from each other’s university and provide them accommodation and access to laboratories and libraries besides other necessary support.

Vice Chancellor Prof Hassan Shah said GCU was actively strengthening research and academic ties with foreign universities to share best practices and training of faculty members. Earlier, GCU AP&EL Director Ms Fouzia Shaheen briefed the delegation about the scope of the accord and other active foreign research collaborations of GCU. She said that both the universities would also join conferences, training workshops and seminars.

seminar: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) in coordination with Environment Protection Society of Govt College University conducted a cleanliness awareness seminar at GCU on clean and green Pakistan/Lahore.

Managing Director, LWMC, Khalid Nazir and Vice Chancellor, GCU, Dr Hassan Amir Shah, GM Operations, Sohail Anwar, and Turk contractor officials were present at the seminar. Adviser to Environment Protection Society (EPS) Professor Dr Faiza screened a slideshow of LWMC and EPS collaborations and activities.

LWMC MD Khalid Nazir said sessions and seminars around the year were aimed at raising awareness of maintaining cleanliness in the City. He briefed the seminar on LWMC projects. He said LWMC is working closely with other departments to provide exceptional cleanliness service to the citizens.
