OKARA: Two alleged dacoits were shot dead while two others managed to flee near village 2/D in Hujra Shah Muqeem police precincts after an encounter, with the police on Wednesday late night.
District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Faisal Rana told reporters here the police had received information that some highwaymen were looting people coming to village 2/D. The police rushed to the scene and called for police re-enforcements.
Seeing the police, the outlaws opened indiscriminate firing. The fire was retaliated by the police and meanwhile various villagers also reached there. After exchange of fire for quite sometime, police found two bodies, which were later identified as Bari Dacoit Gang chief Ihsan Bari, resident of village Dhuliayana, and his accomplice Abdul Sattar, son of Ahmad Din, resident of Qadirabad. The police also seized a Kalashnikov and 44-bore rifle, ammunition and two cell-phones. The DPO also the dacoits fell victim to bullets of their accomplices, who managed to escape.
Ihsan Bari was involved in 13 heinous crimes including two murder cases registered at Hujra Shah Muqeem police station. The other dead Abdul Sattar was wanted in three cases including a murder case registered at the same police station. The DPO also claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender with Rs 0.5 million head money. He said Gogera police station SHO Inspector Aziz Cheema received information that a PO, Rustam alias Rusti, of Rusti gang was present in the area of Thatta Khaira in the deep area of River Ravi. The police team succeeded in arresting the PO later on.
