President Dr Arif Alvi visited the office of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) at the Governor’s House on Monday, applauded the voluntarism of the committee’s team and assured if of all cooperation and assistance to ensure its continuity.
He was accompanied by Governor Imran Ismail and Najaf Quli Mirza, additional director general of the FIA. They were welcomed on their arrival by the CPLC Sindh chief and senior members of the CPLC’s Central Committee.
President Alvi appreciated the role of the CPLC in maintaining databases, combating crimes with the help of law enforcement agencies, and undertaking neighbourhood care and welfare projects, especially CPLC Shanakth and CPLC Schools in downtrodden areas of Karachi.
He also visited the Police Complaint Cell, the CNIC Verification System Desk, the Complaint Handling Department, the IT Cell, the Sketching unit and the CPLC 24/7 Call Centre. A spokesman said CPLC chief Zubair Habib talked about the inception of the CPLC, its functions, core values, infrastructure and success stones during the last 29 years. He also briefed the president about the connectivity with different departments and the nature of complaints handled, neighbourhood care projects undertaken by CPLC that had resulted in a drastic reduction in heinous and street crimes. He presented a shield to the president and thanked him for visiting CPLC office.
