GUJRANWALA: Two dacoits were killed in an encounter with Model Town police here on Tuesday. The police set up a picket on a road near the General Bus Stand.
In the meantime, the policemen signalled a bike but the bikers allegedly opened fire at the police. In retaliation, two dacoits, one of them identified as Imran of Hassanpura Garjakh, were killed. The police said that the dacoits had earlier snatched cash and other valuables from Shabbir at Wahdat Colony. Meanwhile, a dacoit was killed in an encounter with the police in the limits of the Sher Sultan police station on Tuesday.
Abdul Karim was on his way when three dacoits snatched cash and his bike from him. In the meantime, Sher Sultan police SHO Iqbal Khan rushed to the spot and started chasing the dacoits.
At this, the dacoits opened fire at the police party. In retaliation, one dacoit, later identified as Kashif alias Kashi of Shah Jamal, was seriously injured. Later, he was shifted to a hospital where he died. However, his accomplices identified as Jaggo and Altaf fled.
