DASKA: All the seven fountains, installed at different crossings of the city, have been out of order for the last three years due to alleged negligence of tehsil municipal administration (TMA).
These fountains, installed at the cost of Rs 4 million during a special drive to beautify the city, remain unattended and have become breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects, with the TMA unable to depute the staff for the last three years.
These fountains are at public places like Government School Kutchery Chowk, Civil Hospital Chowk, Lorry Adda and Chungi No 8, and may cause the spread of dengue and malaria after becoming breeding ground of mosquitoes.
In their comments on the issue, Amir Cheema Advocate said the TMA administration should maintain the beauty of city and cleanliness, while a local leader of PTI, Qari Zulfiqar, described the performance of the TMA administration as very poor.
