SLS School holds table tennis tournament

A four-day Inter-Campus Table Tennis Tournament was held at Sadeeqa’s Learning System (SLS) Montessori & High School, says a press release.
A total of 225 players from 16 branches comprising of 116 boys and 109 girls competed with one other from grades 5 to 8 with the Islamabad Campus and Harley Street Campus acting as the host branches.
The first three days had the preliminaries, whilst the last day of the event saw the finals of the event. The chief guest for the event was Yasmeen Akhtar who is a five times National Doubles Table Tennis Champion. She is also the captain of the table tennis team of Punjab and the National Coach of the Pakistan Sports Board. Ms. Akhtar appreciated the great zeal and zest of the players and praised the hard work put in by their coaches. She conveyed that sports play a vital role in building confidence, helping in developing sportsmanship and maintaining good health and a healthy mind.
After congratulating the winners, she awarded cups to the winning team and certificates to all the participants. The principals of all the campuses appreciated the tournament’s organisation by Hasnat Ahmed, the Physical Training Instructors Coordinator at the SLS Head Office. Mr. Ahmed congratulated the winners and reminded the students the most important part of sports was learning the ethics of being a sportsperson.
M. Haris Sohail of grade 5 from the Islamabad campus was declared the Best Player in Singles in boys and Zoella Sultan of grade 8 from the Tufail Road campus won that title in girls. The Best Doubles Teams were Amman Khan and Ahsan Imtiaz from grade 7 from the Peshawar Road campus in boys and Nashmia Zaidi and Fatima Tahir of grade 8 of the Lalazar Campus in girls.
The Lalazar Campus bagged the Champions Trophy for the 13th year in a row but the Islamabad campus gave them a tough time and came second by just two points. The Harley Street Senior branch put up a good fight and came third.
