Seven policemen booked for torturing man to death

JHANG: After a public protest, police have registered a case against a sub-inspector and six constables for torturing a villager to death.
Sub-Inspector Muhammad Aslam of Satellite Town police station and six constables, including Riaz and Zafar, entered the house of Muzaffar at Madoki during search for a suspect. Police allegedly beat the female family members when they protested against them. In the meantime, Muzaffar also came there and policemen allegedly tortured him to death.
Meanwhile, the family members with the area people staged a demonstration in front of the DHQ Hospital by placing the body of Muzaffar on a road. They were chanting slogans against police.
On information, the City DSP rushed to the spot and assured the deceased’s family of providing justice.
Later, police registered a case under Sections 302, 147 and 149 of the PPC on the report of the deceased’s nephew Ghulam Abbas.
