HARIPUR: Former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has flayed the statement of
former provincial minister Zulfiqar Mirza about Pakistan People’s Party’s co-chairperson and former president Asif Ali Zardari as baseless.
“It’s vulgar and baseless allegation against a former elected president. If Zardari is a RAW agent, who is Zulfiqar Mirza?” he asked, advising him to avoid using such a language. Speaking to newsmen during his visit to the residence of Pir Hamid in Umar Khana Sharif village in Ghazi Tehsil here on Sunday, the former prime minister said political parties facing allegations of having links with foreign agencies and supporting terrorist activities in Pakistan should be probed properly and the investigation reports be made public.
“This is high time for an operation in Karachi and imposing a ban on political parties enjoying support of the RAW for the sake of getting rid of scourge of terrorism in the country,” he asserted.
Supporting the military operation against terrorism, the senior PPP leader said
the nation was sincerely backing the Pakistan Army for the steps it was taking for restoration of peace and tranquility in the country. He also asked the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to avoid altering the route of economic corridor as it could harm the national interests. Pir Hamid is a spiritual figure whom the former prime minister and some other political personalities regularly visit to seek his blessings.
