HARIPUR: The police on Saturday claimed to have arrested four persons in connection with the murder case of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) tehsil president and a candidate for district council in the upcoming government election in Sara-e-Saleh. Qazi Sajjad Qureshi, a candidate for the district council and president tehsil PML-N, was standing outside his election office on Rehana Road when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him.
He sustained multiple bullet injuries and was rushed to the Women and Children Hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police sources said that acting on a tip-off, SHO of Sara-e-Saleh Police Station Munir Khan along with police party raided the residence of Kaka Khan in Changi Bandi village and arrested four persons. Kaka Khan, however, managed to escape from the scene.
The police seized two Kalashnikovs and two pistols in the raid. Kaka Khan is also a candidate for district council from the same area.
The arrestees were identified as Ghulam Muhammad, Zulfiqar, Ehsanullah and Asad Hussain. The police registered the case and started investigation.
