BAHAWALPUR: Minister for Education and Internal Affairs Engr Mian Muhammad Baleegh-ur-Rehman Monday inaugurated a three-day International Seerat moot held under the auspices of the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) at main auditorium of Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus.
The title of the moot is ‘Role of social organisations in the light of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH)’. Dr Qaisar Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor IUB, presided over the inauguration session.
The guests of honour were Prof Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha, Dr Abduho bin Muhammad Ibrahim Ateen, Director General Rabita Aalmi Islami Pakistan and Dr Hafiz Nisar-ul-Haq, President American Islamic Society.
The minister said Pakistan came into being in the name of Islam and it is the responsibility of the government and the public to protect the Islamic ideology. He said it is the need of the hour to train our coming generations in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Dr Mushtaq said it was the proper time to highlight various dimensions of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) for the Islamic world to get acquainted with the divine message. The second session was presided over by Kuwaiti scholar Dr Waleed bin Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Ali. Mrs Shahnaz Zaheer of Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad and Dr Sohail Hassan of International Islamic University Islamabad presented keynote addresses in the third and fourth sessions, respectively. Fifty delegates from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bangladesh, the US and Pakistan are participating.
