DIR: Jamaat-e Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday asked the federal government to complete work on the Lowari Tunnel.
He was addressing the youth convention of Shabab-e-Milli organised in connection with the upcoming for local government election. The JI leader lamented that the Lowari Tunnel project could not be undertaken even in 10 years.
He said the businessmen from Chitral and Dir were also suffering due to the non-completion of the project. The JI chief said the people of Pakistan would protect the sacred places in Saudi Arab. “The US is hell-bent on destabilising the Muslim world particularly Pakistan and Saudi Arabia,” he alleged.
Provincial Minister for Local Government Inayatullah, JI’s parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah, MPAs Malik Behram Khan, Mohammad Ali and others were present on the occasion.
The JI head also urged the federal government not to change the route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor so that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan could benefit from the mega project.
Siraj said that the time for the accountability of the corrupt politicians had come. He said Pakistan was rich in resources, but the country lacked honest leadership. Sirajul Haq promised that free treatment would be provided to the patients suffering from cancer, hepatitis, thalassemia, kidney and heart problems if JI was voted to power at the centre. He asked the people of Upper Dir to vote for the candidates of the JI in the May 30 local government elections.
