HAFIZABAD: A large number of farmers took out a rally against the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation Ltd (Passco) for not providing gunny bags to them. The protesters led by Kisan Board president Ch Amanullah Chattha took out a rally from Alipur Road up to the press club. They were chanting slogans against the government and the Passco. They were also carrying placards and banners. The protesting farmers burnt the gunny bags tokens to register their protest.
Addressing the protesters, Amanullah Chattha alleged that the Passco was providing gunny bags to the favourites and ignoring the poor farmers. He said that the farmers would take out a long march to press their demands on October 4. When contacted, the Passco officials said that the gunny bags were being provided to the farmers on merit.
