MULTAN: The World Bank review team on education has declared Bahauddin Zakariya University’s (BZU’s) Distance Learning Department as number one in South Asia region, which is equipped with most modern technologies, university officials said on Friday.
The BZU has dispatched a letter to Higher Education Commission informing it that in the WB ranking, BZU’s Distance Learning Department has been declared the best institution in South Asia for providing education on most modern and scientific lines, with strong check on the quality of education.
Distance Learning Director Prof Dr Ishaq Fani said students could take advantage of Saturday and Sunday classes in the department and learn from faculty instructors. The students can get help from instructors online through Learning Management System. He said a most modern digital library is being established in the department where more than one lakh books will be available for students.
He said financial assistance programme worth Rs9 million has been launched in the department for deserving but intelligent students.
