Protest against non-recovery of labourer

GUJRANWALA: The family of abducted workman Sanaullah, along with the people of Khiali Shahpur, staged a protest demonstration outside the CPO Gujranwala office here Friday against police inaction.
They feared that Sanaullah might have been killed and his body drowned in canal, as the labourer was abducted about two months ago by some influential people. They chanted slogans against Khiali police and alleged that police did not investigate properly those arrested in connection with abduction of Sanaullah and let the accused go on judicial remand.
Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully when a senior police officer assured them that the abductee would be recovered and the accused would be punished.
Protest against loadshedding
Resident of Awan Chowk area including men, women and children staged a demonstration against long hours of unscheduled loadshedding after the start of the summer season. They chanted slogans against Gepco and Wapda and kept roads blocked for quite sometime and dispersed after police assured them that their grievances would be conveyed to the authorities concerned. People said their area was the worst-hit due to mismanagement and non-maintenance of distribution lines.
