FAISALABAD: On the orders of the CM, the ACE has booked three officers of the Highways Department and a contractor for defective construction of a road.
Those booked are Executive Engineer Abdul Khaliq, SDO Dilshad Ahmad, Sub-Engineer Munawar Sultan and contractor Arshad Ahmad. They were booked on a complaint of MPA Azad Ali Tabbasum in which he accused them of defective construction of Jhumra-Barnala Road.
PTEA FOR BUSINESS-FRIENDLY BUDGET: The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association has urged the government to announce a business-friendly budget and resolve the energy crisis in the country.
In a statement here, PTEA vice-president Rizwan Riaz said that the government should bring in necessary reforms and give special status to the export-oriented textile industry, allowing zero rating facility to boost investment and revive growth. He said that the textile industry was the only hope for revival of country’s economy, which was currently jolted by high cost of doing business. Export-oriented textile sector in the forthcoming budget should be given special status by separating it from other industrial sectors, he stressed.
Many incentives under the textile package, including complete settlement of all outstanding refund claims till September 30, 2014, and rationalisation of refund regime was announced in the previous budget 2014/15, but they could not be implemented and around 30 to 40 per cent working capital of textile exporters was still stuck up in refund regime, he added. He said that sales tax refund should be processed in minimum possible time in a transparent manner. He said that to streamline the entire refund verification and sanctioning process, the FBR should evolve a mechanism for ending practical hassles, liquidity problems of refund claimants and frivolous litigation pertaining to refunds.
‘PAK-SAUDI TIES STRENGTHENING’: Jamaatud Dawa leader Maulana Amir Hamza has said that the relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are fostering day-by-day.
Addressing a Tahaffuz-e-Harmain Sharifain conference at Jamia Muhammadi, Sargodha Road, on Thursday, he said that the Pakistanis would lay down their lives to protect the integrity of Saudi Arabia. He said that the prime minister should take a bold step and announce complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia. After defeat in Afghanistan, the US and its allies were now helping the anti-state forces in Yemen but they would not succeed in their nefarious designs, he added. He appealed to the Ulema to frustrate the nefarious designs of the anti-Islam forces and develop unity in their ranks.
