KOHAT: The district administration Tuesday resolved the longstanding dispute over the ownership of a coalmine among the sub-clans of the Akhorwal tribe in Darra Adamkhel in the district.
The dispute was resolved amicably at a meeting of the elders of sub-clans of Akhorwal tribe held with the Deputy Commissioner Kohat, Kamran Ahmad Afridi, at his office.Sector Commander Kohat Brigadier Mushtaq, Assistant Political Agent Darra Adamkhel Sardar Asad Haroon, tribal elders, including Malik Khaista Khan, Malik Noor Muhammad, Malik Yar Khan and others were present on the occasion.
The tribal elders had given the decision power to the deputy commissioner who announced the formula of distribution of shares of coal deposits among the Akhorwal tribes.The elders of the sub-tribes welcomed the decision and accepted the sharing formula. They lauded the efforts of the district and political administration and officials of the security forces for resolving the dispute that was lying unsolved for the last 13 years. Later, speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, elders of the Akhorwal tribe Muhammad Qasim and others thanked Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, corps commander, district and political administration officials for their tireless efforts in resolving the dispute amicably.
