ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk Wednesday took notice on press clipping of daily Jang dated 09.04.2015 containing the column (Sindh ki khawateen sy insaaf – qoomi tarjeh nahi) wherein it was stated that a few weeks ago, a lady Allah Wadhaye and her 12-year-old daughter Sheema Solangi were gang raped and later both were set on fire at Ghotki. Sheema Solangi died, whereas Allah Wadhaye received serious burn injuries. The accused are still at large.
In the Column another incident was also mentioned wherein a newly married woman namely, Tahira Khoso, was murdered in Jacobabad by her husband for so-called honour killing. Accused husband of deceased Tahira Khoso has allegedly been provided shelter by a political leader in Balochistan.
Taking cognisance of the issue, the chief justice directed that report be called from SSPs concerned through IGP Sindh within three days as well as report also be called from National Commission on the Status of Women chairperson regarding status of women and the specific incidents highlighted in the news clipping and directed to provide statistical data of such cases in Pakistan and measures taken so far in this regard within 3 days.
After going through the reports submitted by IGP Sindh and National Commission on the Status of Women chairperson, Chief Justice of Pakistan directed to fix it in 2nd week of May with notice initially to AG Sindh, IGP Sindh and National Commission on the Status of Women chairperson.
