ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) selection committee has named 18-member squad for the four-nation event to be played in Hobart (Australia) from May 2-10.
The team will be led by Mohammad Imran while two of the senior players, Muhammad Rizwan Senior and Rashid Mahmood were left out of the touring squad as they failed to report at the camp because of their commitments with the German League.
The national selection committee headed by Islahuddin Siddiqui and including Ayaz Mahmood and Musaddiq Hussain watched players in action. At the end of trials, the committee selected 18-member team that later was approved by the PHF president Akhtar Rasool. Due to ailment, one of the selection committee members, Arshad Ali Chaudhry was unable to observe the trials. Another member, Khalid Bashir was also unavailable.
The team for the Hobart includes: Goalkeepers: Imran Butt and Amjad Ali.
Full backs: Muhammad Imran (captain), Muhammad Irfan and Syed Kashif Shah. Halves: Tasawar Abbas, Zohaib Ashraf, Muhammad Rizwan Junior, Muhammad Tousiq, Ammad Shakeel Butt and Faisal Qadir.
Forwards: Muhammad Waqas Sharif, Arslan Qadir, Shafqat Rasool, Muhammad Umar Bhutta, Muhammad Dilber, Ali Shan and Rizwan Ali.
