OKARA: DCO Qaisar Saleem has asked the district government to provide a platform to students for their talent contest.
The DCO said this while addressing a gathering of school students under the Talent Hunt Programme (THP) of amateur singers under Jashan-e-Baharan festival.
On Thursday night at Arts Council Hall 70 amateur student singers across the district participated in a singing contest and 16 singers were selected for the final round by a three-member jury comprising Muhammad Iqbal Fareedi, Khurshid Jillani and Munir Chaudhry.
And in the final round, Kamran, a visually handicapped musician and teacher in the special education school Depalpur got first position, Shujaat 2nd and Syed Mohsin Raza the 3rd position.
All the participants were given encouragement certificates.
The DCO said under the THP, the district government would further arrange competitions in Qirat, Naat, calligraphy, painting and sports to expose talent of the youth.
