GUJRANWALA: Residents of Cantonment area will elect the Cantonment Board members in 10 wards here on Saturday (today).
The polling will be held from 8am to 5pm while 46 presiding officers, 85 assistant presiding officers and 85 polling officers will conduct the polls. As many as 16 army personnel will remain present in each polling station. Total registered voters are 50,171 in 85 polling stations. The PML-N and the PTI have fielded 10 candidates each while the JI and the PAT have fielded four candidates each and the PPP has fielded only three candidates in the polls.
COMMITS SUICIDE: A married woman committed suicide at Emenabad on Friday.
Muqaddas Bibi, a mother of four children, ended her life by taking poison. The motive behind the incident is said to be a domestic dispute.
GETS IMPRISONMENT: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Ms Bushra Zaman on Friday awarded 17 days imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine to an accused for keeping objectionable CDs.
According to prosecution, Qila Didar Singh police arrested Ishtiaq Ahmed and recovered CDs of sectarian speeches from him.
