Farhan, Israr reach FMC International Squash quarters

KARACHI: Farhan Mehboob and Israr Ahmed performed extraordinarily to qualify for the quarter-finals of the $15,000 FMC International Squash championship at the PSA Squash Complex, Lahore, on Friday.
Unseeded Farhan Mehboob smashed sixth seed Khawaja Adil Maqbool 11-8, 11-7, 11-8 in just 23 minutes in the first round, while qualifier Israr Ahmed stunned seventh seed Shahjahan Khan 11-9, 11-6, 11-9 in 29 minutes.
In other matches, top seed Nasir Iqbal thrashed wildcard entrant Sheraz Saleem 11-0, 11-9, 11-6 in 20 minutes; fifth seed Tayyab Aslam got walkover against Aamir Malik of UAE who did not turn up for the event; eighth seed Saqib Yousaf defeated qualifier Waqas Mehboob 11-8, 7-11, 11-5, 11-5 in 34 minutes.
Fourth seed Danish Atlas overpowered Asim Khan 6-11, 7-11, 11-3, 11-3, 11-6 in 64 minutes and second seed Aamir Atlas won against qualifier Waqar Mehboob 10-12, 13-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6 in 52 minutes.
In the quarter-finals, Nasir faces Tayyab; Saqib is up against Farhan Zaman, Danish will take on Farhan Mehboob, and Israr is drawn against Aamir.
