Sohna establishes protest camp against TMA administrator

OKARA: PPP district president and ex-MPA Ashraf Khan Sohna and his party workers established a protest camp against TMA Administrator/ADC Fareed Ahmad at Gole Chowk on Wednesday.
Sohna established the protest camp against the TMA administrator for allegedly ordering the TMA staff to throw garbage near his house and in front of his petrol pump after exchanging hot words with him in a function. Former MNA Ch Sajjadul Hassan, ex-MPA Mian Asghar, Anjuman-e-Mazareen Punjab general secretary Mehr Abdus Sattar, PPP City president Alam Sher Khan Lodhi and a large number of PPP workers also joined the protest camp. The protesters demanded immediate transfer of the TMA administrator. Later, Ashraf Sohna called on Sahiwal Division Commissioner Sohail Shahzad and demanded action against the administrator. On the other hand, Rana Shakil Ahmad advocate filed a writ petition in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Syed Ali Azhar and demanded registration of a case against the administrator and his 50 staff members. After hearing the case, the court directed the petitioner to submit application in the concerned police station. Meanwhile, TMA Administrator/ADC Fareed Ahmad sent an SMS to The News in which he said that anti-encroachment operation was being conducted transparently in the city. He alleged that Ashraf Sohna was patronising land grabbers. He alleged that Sohna used aggression for stopping the TMA staff from performing their duty fourth time in a month.
MURDERERS IDENTIFIED: The district police have applied to the Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore No 4 to handover two gangsters to the police who were allegedly involved in murdering an official of a law enforcing agency three months ago.
Talking here on Wednesday, DPO Faisal Rana said that Abdul Malik, an official of a law enforcement agency, was carrying his guests in a car when two armed gangsters, who were later identified as Amir alias Adnan and Muhammad Riaz alias Arshad of 78/5R village, Sahiwal district, murdered Abdul Malik on resistance. The DPO said that the gangsters were later sent to the Sahiwal Jail in some other case where relatives of martyred Abdul Malik identified both the alleged murderers. He said that the case of both accused was under proceedings at the ATC Lahore No 4 and the Okara police had applied for obtaining custody of both the gangsters for further investigation.
BURNT TO DEATH: A woman was burnt to death by her husband over a domestic dispute here on Wednesday.
Shabbir, a police constable, allegedly burnt to death his wife Sobia. Later, the cop set himself ablaze also. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
