BAHAWALPUR: Two proclaimed offenders were killed in an encounter with Khairpur Tamewali police here.
Police had arrested proclaimed offender Bilal Channar and Allah Ditta in abduction for ransom case on Tuesday. The next day, police were taking the proclaimed offenders for recovery of weapons used in the abduction of Saeed Raja when their accomplices opened fire on a police van to get them released. Police also retaliated. As a result, the two proclaimed offenders were killed on the spot. They were wanted by Lodhran and Bahawalpur police in several cases of dacoity, murder and abduction for ransom.
Meanwhile, the relatives of Allah Ditta staged a demonstration against police for killing him in a fake encounter. The protesters claimed that Allah Ditta was not involved in the abduction of Saeed Raja. They demanded a judicial inquiry.
