PHC seeks AG’s assistance
Petition against LG Act

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general (AG) to appear in person and assist the court in the questions raised in the writ petition filed against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act, 2013. The leaders of Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Sardar Hussain Babak and Abdul Jalil Jan, respectively, had challenged the act. They had voiced the party reservations over different sections of the new law. The division bench, comprising Justice Musarrat Hilali and Justice Qalandar Ali Khan said that it was the last chance for the advocate general to appear in person and assist the court. April 23 was fixed for the next hearing.
