HAFIZABAD: The District Bar Association has decided to boycott the courts on Tuesday (today) against “insulting and irresponsible attitude of DPO Shakir Hussain Dawar towards the lawyer community”.
Addressing press conference at the press club here, DBA President Syed Nasir Hussain Sherazi and General Secretary Ch Amanullah Sindhu Advocate demanded the Punjab chief minister and Inspector General Punjab to transfer the DPO over his misconduct.
The DBA office-bearers and members of the Executive Council were also present at the press conference. They warned of an indefinite strike if their demand is not met immediately.
The DBA president regretted that the DPO had included the name of Amanullah Sindhu in the list of so-called ‘qabza group’. He said the DPO was creating confrontation amongst lawyers, judiciary and the general public. He alleged that corruption and corrupt practices as well as crime rate have increased in the City Police precincts.
Amanullah Sindhu said the DPO had developed personal grudge against him because he had a case against the City Police Station SHO. He said he belonged to a respectable family and had been elected vice-president and general secretary DBA twice and no case had ever been registered against him. He said he was the president of Tehreek-e-Insaf Hafizabad district and the DPO was tarnishing his image among the people. He said he had served Rs20 million damages notice on the DPO for damaging his reputation.
However, DPO Shakir Hussain claimed Amanullah Sindhu Advocate was a criminal and land-grabber and many cases had been registered against him at different police stations. The DPO demanded the Punjab Bar Council to cancel the licence of Amanullah Sindhu.
