NAWABSHAH: There is a big rush of the patients of diarrhoea and stomach problems at the People’s Medical Hospital. The case of the water-borne diseases was due to drinking contaminated water, said the sources in the hospital and added that all beds in the hospitals had been occupied by these patients, majority of whom were children. They opined that lots of such patients had also approached private clinics. Prof Dr Saleem Faiz of the Medicine Department confirmed that contaminated drinking water was causing these diseases and advised citizens to boil water before use, avoid decayed fruits and leftover cooked items. On the other hand, citizens said that municipal authorities were responsible for supplying contaminated water through decaying water supply lines laid some 40 years back. They said sewerage water was mixing with the drinking water.
