OKARA: Police Friday booked 235 protesters, who blocked traffic on GT Road by putting two dead bodies on the road the other day.
The case was registered on the complaint of SHO PS Sadar Okara Mehr Muhammad Ismail.
DPO Muhammad Faisal Rana told reporters that other day a man and a woman were shot dead and some others suffered injuries in a clash.
He said the accused were arrested from the village, but sympathizers of the bereaved family brought both the bodies from the village to the GT Road after covering a distance of seven kilometers and blocked it. The DPO said the protesters were demanding public hanging of the accused on the site and threatened the police that if the killers were not hanged on the GT Road, they would set the police on fire.
He said the accused were in police custody and they would be dealt with according to law. He said no violation of law would be tolerated.
