Multan by-polls: Qureshi charges govt with pre-poll rigging

MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi Friday lambasted the government, alleging that it has started pre-poll rigging in Multan by-polls and transferred the Multan City Police Officer under a plan.
Talking to journalists here at PTI Multan district office, he said the PTI has written to the chief election commission in this regard. He said the CPO transfer was part of pre-poll rigging plan.
He dismissed an assertion that there was any guarantor behind the Judicial Commission (JC) formation, saying the only guarantor was the memorandum signed between him and Ishaq Dar. He said the PTI has provided all political parties with an opportunity to submit their proofs and evidence about the election rigging to the JC. “We have tons of rigging evidence and we will produce that at a suitable time,” he added.
Qureshi said if ANP and JUI-F believe that general elections were rigged in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, doors were open on them to submit proofs to the Judicial Commission.
He said the PPP and the PML-N were making efforts to avoid local government elections. However, he added, the PTI was ready to take part in the LG polls at any cost, not only in Punjab but also in other provinces.
Qureshi said the MQM had become afraid of the PTI candidate campaign in NA-246 constituency. PTI candidate Imran Ismail’s going out to eat ‘nihari’ without any fear had confused the MQM leadership, he added.
He said the MQM was a beneficiary of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), which had covered up the entire filth and crimes of MQM.
Qureshi thanked Federal Minister for Defence Khwaja Asif on his remarks delivered on the arrival of PTI legislators in the National Assembly. “We say thanks to Khwaja Asif for receiving all our legislators warmly,” he said sarcastically.
