The Enforcement Wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday retrieved land encroached upon by two hotels and newly-constructed wedding hall along Murree Road.
The operation was launched against hotels, one of them owned by an MNA, by using heavy machinery in presence of Islamabad Police and a large number of enforcement personnel. “The operation has been completed successfully,” an official of the CDA said. The official said that the managements of hotels had erected fence and barriers close to Murree Road. “We have demolished the fence and removed barriers without facing any resistance,” he said adding that the land had been under occupation of hotels for many years.
The official said the Supreme Court had also directed the CDA to remove barriers which were erected on roads in the name of security. “We acted upon directives of the apex court,” he said. The CDA Enforcement Wing would now write a letter to the Environment Wing to take possession of the land and carry out beautification work there.
Another operation was launched across the road in front of hotels during which over 50 slum dwellings established on land of four agro farm plots were demolished. The CDA would offer the four evacuated agro plots in an open auction
