FAISALABAD: State Minister for Water and Power Ch Abid Sher Ali has said that 1700-1800 megawatt electricity will be added to the national grid by the end of May, which will help reduce loadshedding in the country.
Presiding over a review meeting at the Fesco Headquarters here on Monday, he said that the government had released billions of rupees to upgrade the distribution system. During a special campaign against power pilferers, millions of electricity units were saved, he added. He issued special directives for the maintenance and repair of overloaded transformers and grid stations so that the consumers could enjoy its fruit during the summer. He said that a special campaign for energy conservation would be launched on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He appealed to the media to play its vital role during the energy conservation campaign. He warned that there was no room for the lethargic and corrupt officers and officials in the department. He said that the Fesco performance was a role model for other distribution companies. He directed preparation of the load management plan for the summer and Ramazan with consultation of all stakeholders.
Fesco CEO Rashid Ahmad Aslam, Fesco BoD Chairman Khurram Mukhtar, MPA Tahir Jamil and others were also present on the occasion.
