JHANG: District and Sessions Judge Faiz Muhammad has expressed anger over increasing public complaints about police harassments, which reflect poor performance of the Police Department.
Addressing a meeting of the Criminal Justice Committee here, he showed concerned over slow investigation and submission of challans in courts by police, which halted speedy justice. He warned the police officials to restrain from peeping into public life by raiding houses. He said that telephonic court summon delivery would not be accepted. He directed the SP Investigations to ensure early arrest of the proclaimed offenders and produce them in courts for prosecution.
WHEAT PROCUREMENT: District Food Controller Amanullah Soomro has directed the assistant food controller, inspectors and supervisors to achieve the wheat procurement target.
Chairing a meeting in his office here on Saturday, he said that provision of gunny bags would begin from April 20 and purchase centres would become operational from April 25 in the district. He said that 15 wheat procurement centres had been established in the district, where proper sitting arrangements and drinking water facility would be provided. He said that 16 gunny bags per acre of cultivated land would be provided to the farmers and the government would procure wheat from them at Rs 1,300 per 40kg. He said that distribution of gunny bags would be transparent and involvement of middlemen would be discouraged. He said that public representatives and officials of the district administration would be inducted in the supervisory committees of wheat procurement centres to ensure merit in provision of gunny bags and purchase of wheat.
