Kidnapper gets death on two counts

GUJRANWALA: Anti-Terrorism Court No-1 Judge Imtiaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Saturday convicted two accused in an abduction-cum-murder case registered with Gujrat Civil Lines police.
The court awarded death sentence on two counts, life imprisonment on two counts and Rs 200,000 fine to Iftikhar and life imprisonment on two counts and Rs 200,000 fine to Kanwal Shahzad. The judge, however, acquitted the third accused, Naveed, giving him the benefit of the doubt.
The prosecution said that the convicts had abducted class 8 student Hussain for Rs 1 million ransom on August 12, 2014. It said that the convicts killed the abductee as the family paid them only Rs 150,000 ransom.
