Siraj says PPP failed to implement ZAB socio-economic plan

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said Pakistan People’s Party has been observing death anniversaries of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) religiously but it failed to implement his socio-economic programme.
“The poor are still running from pillar to post for ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makan’ (food, clothing and shelter), while the palaces of the rich are multiplying with each passing day,” said the JI Amir. He was addressing different gatherings in Lahore in connection the JI membership drive.
Siraj said the Pakistan Movement was launched from Lahore and now the JI had begun its struggle for completion of Pakistan from the same city. He said he was trying to bring the poor workers, labourers, tonga-walla on one platform, and the day the poor would realise their power, would be the last day of the rule of the tyrant waderas and capitalists.
The JI chief welcomed formation of the Judicial Commission to probe election 2013 rigging charges.
Siraj said Pakistan and Turkey should play the role of a mediator between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. He also questioned the role of the OIC in the crisis. The people have been crushed due to unemployment and price spiral. The school-age children of the poor were compelled to work in workshops and hotels, he regretted.
He urged the poor to rise for a change in the social setup, and assured them that the JI was fully prepared to take the elite to task for their misdeeds, corruption and plunder.
Sirajul Haq condemned an attack on the PTI camp in Karachi and said the MQM workers and their leader Altaf Hussain should learn from their past mistakes, and the culture of the terrorism in the MQM should be changed. He said if the Election Commission failed to hold fair, free and impartial election in Karachi, a number of questions would arise.
The JI chief said the murder of a student Zain was a test case for the Punjab chief minister and the judiciary as tyranny could not be wiped out without establishing the rule of the constitution and the law.
Talking to the media at the residence of Zain, he said society must be cleansed of arms. He said if any attempt would be made to save the killer or the aggrieved family was denied justice, the JI would stand by the victim.
