The Punjab Public Relations Department has failed to appoint the district information officers (DIOs) at Toba, Jhang and Chiniot despite the fact that the posts were vacant for the last several months.
District Information Officer Anzar Mahman was transferred to Lahore from here five months ago but since then a clerk of the DIO Office was running the office affairs. The temporary charge of all three DIOs was given to Faisalabad Public Relation Deputy Director Subhan Ali.
CONVENTION: The Irrigation Employees Power Union will organise a provincial convention of the employees at Civil Secretariat in Lahore on April 9. The union’s leader Allah Bakhsh Sial told reporters here on Saturday that Punjab Irrigation Secretary Saif Anjum would be the chief guest in the ceremony. The secretary would hopefully announce acceptance of demands of the union for which they were struggling for the last several years, he added.
VALUABLES SNATCHED: A dacoity incident was reported at Gojra on Saturday. Two dacoits entered the shop of Zaheer at Samanabad and snatched cash, mobile phones and other valuables.
pay tax: Acting on the direction of Federal Board of Revenue, the Additional Commissioner (Land Revenue) Gujranwala Saturday asked owners of new costly vehicles and property holders to pay tax. He warned them that recovery team had prepared their lists and it would be better for them to pay tax otherwise their bank accounts and properties would be confiscated.
NEW BLOCK: Commissioner Shumail Ahmed Khawaja on Saturday inaugurated a newly-constructed BSc block at the Government Postgraduate Girls College. The block has been constructed at a cost of Rs 30 million. The commissioner inspected various portions of the block and expressed his satisfaction. Director Colleges Ghulam Sarwar, Principal Riffat Sohail, City AC Attiqur Rehman and others also attended the ceremony.
abducted: A married woman of Chak Kharal was abducted by four accused of Thatha Malhian village in Hafizabad on Saturday. Accused Sanaullah and his accomplices entered house of Ghulam Sarwar and abducted his wife.
