DERA GHAZI KHAN/BAHAWALPUR: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik has directed the lower courts judges to dispose of the cases facing pendency for the last four years before summer vacation.
Addressing the judges, district bar association members and administrative officers here and in Bahawalpur on Friday, he said that recruitment of 696 civil judges was in the last phase and the deficiency of judges would be bridged in the courts by September. He directed the Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur commissioners to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the courts from 8am to 2pm. He said that he would soon visit Sargodha division. He asked the lawyers not to go on strike over petty issues as it was a respectable profession while the applicants got disappointed with the repeated strikes. He said that 97 per cent lawyers appeared in the courts while the issues were created by 3 per cent lawyers.
He asked Punjab Bar Council member Muhammad Arif Khan Gurmani and District Bar Association president Muhammad Saleem Raza Kakar to nominate five lawyers with consensus, who would be appointed as judges after meeting criteria.
District and Sessions Judge Rao Abdul Jabbar Khan, Regional Police Officer Rehmatullah Khan Niazi, DCO Nadeemul Rehman, DPO Ghulam Mubashir Maikan and others were also present on the occasion.
