Toy guns sale goes unchecked in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: The district administration failed to stop the sale of toy guns in provincial capital on Eidul Fitr.
The shopkeepers sold the toy guns without any check from the authorities as the people celebrated the festival. The sale of phony pistols, shotguns and rifles witnessed a sharp increase in Peshawar city and other localities. The shopkeepers had put the toy guns on display to attract children.
The children bought the mock guns and brandished them. The district administration in Peshawar was unable to ban the sale of toy guns even though the district nazim had written to the deputy commissioner of Peshawar. He had sought the imposition of a ban on the sale of toy guns.
In his letter, the district nazim had observed that toy guns caused aggressiveness and violent tendencies among the children. It added that to curb this menace and discourage the nurturing of violent tendencies among the children and youth, it is requested to take a stern action against those selling the toy guns.
