GUJRANWALA: Anti-Terrorism Court No-1 Judge Imtiaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Wednesday issued death warrants for seven murder convicts for April 8.
The convicts, who will be hanged, are Ali Raza, Shafiq, Sarfraz, Rashid Mehr, Amin, Iqbal alias Babu and Jameel alias Jeela.
Six co-accused Waris, Hussain, Qaisar, Tayyab, Asghar and Jamshed were awarded life imprisonment in the case and they were serving their term in the jail.
They had tortured two brothers Hafiz Moeen and Muneeb to death and hanged their bodies outside Rescue 1122 office in Sialkot on August 20, 2010. Sialkot DPO Waqar Chohan, Sialkot Sadr SHO Rana Ilyas and Constables Tariq, Mubarik, Yasin, Bashir, Akram and Naseer were also awarded punishment by a court in the lynching case. Later, the DPO and other policemen filed appeals against their conviction in the Lahore High Court, which acquitted them.
