Delay in LB polls affecting people: Raja

CHAKWAL: Former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Monday said local bodies elections must be held as delay in polls have increased problems of the people.
Talking to reporters after attending the final of shooting ball tournament held at village Hastal, he said all funds for Chakwal-Mandra road and Chakwal-Sohawa road were released during his time, but work on these projects was very slow and it was causing great hardships to the locals.
He said these projects must have been completed two years ago.
To a question, he said the PPP was target during the 2013 polls, especially in Punjab it was not allowed to show strength, saying that it would perform in a more better way in the coming LB polls.
Raja was accorded a rousing welcome when he reached village Hastal.
AFGHANS HELD: Law enforcing agencies and city police Chakwal Monday arrested 25 suspects, including Afghans in a crackdown on suspects from Millat Chowk.
The police also recovered illegal weapons from two people. The police booked seven people under Foreign Act as they failed to produce legal documents.
The detained include Nehmat Gul, Noman Ullah, Dawood Baz, Ghulam Nabi, Zahir Ghazi, Muhammad Shah and Ghazi Gul. The police also recovered hatred material from a man.
