Fata merger

Newspost

May 27, 2018

That the government has succeeded in passing the Fata merger bill is a historic step in the governance history of Pakistan. This is the first vital step taken to abolish the draconian FCR – a remnant of the British Raj. In light of this amendment, the areas which remained marginalised and neglected by the government will now, hopefully, enjoy all constitutional rights that the people of other provinces enjoy.

It is up to the government to ensure the timely implementation of the bill. The government must also rehabilitate the area by providing affordable housing, employment, quality education and other facilities to residents. It is hoped that the terror-stricken region will one day become a peaceful place to live in.
