Ahmedi worship place partially demolished in Sialkot
LAHORE: A mob on Thursday attacked and partially demolished an Ahmedi community's place of worship in Sialkot.
At about 11pm on Wednesday a mob of about 600 men showed up at the spot and began to demolish the Ahmadiya place of worship. The mob continued the destruction up to 3am, as no one tried to stop them. A spokesperson of the Ahmadiya Community in Pakistan – alleged that the place of worship was more than 100 years old and has great historical significance for members of the Ahmadiya Community all over the world.
He said the building was renovated a few weeks back. The Municipal Committee of Sialkot City had taken action against the renovation and sealed the buildings. Sialkot DPO Asad Sarfraz said that action against the angry mob would be taken if application for FIR is received. “No one is above law,” he said while talking to The News, exclusively.
