A court has handed over the suspected killers of 22-year-old Rimsha and her three-month-old son Abdul Hadi to the police on physical remand for interrogation till May 30.
Nasreen, the mother in-law of the deceased Rimsha, and her brother-in-law Ikram were produced before the Judicial Magistrate (South) on Thursday. The investigation officer (IO) told the court that the two had tortured and pushed off Rimsha and her infant son a day earlier from a seven-story building located in Delhi Colony.
The suspects had reported to the police that Rimsha had committed suicide by jumping off the roof of the building along with her infant son. A case against the suspects was registered by the victim’s parents in Frere police station.
Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorities filed a corruption reference against the chairman of the KPT Housing Society and 22 others who are alleged to have caused a loss of around Rs 11 billion to the national exchequer by making illegal allotments of dozens of plots of the society located at the Mai Kolachi Road.
The administrative judge accepted the corruption reference and assigned the accountability court (No I) to hear it. According to the investigators, only one accused is under detention, whereas 11 accused are on the run and 11 others have already obtained protective bail.
