Pakistan, SCO stand together for regional peace

BEIJING: National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasser Khan Janjua attended the 13th meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Security Council Secretariat held here on Monday.

Chinese State Councilor Zhao Kezhi chaired the meeting. It was also attended by the Deputy National Security Adviser of India Rajinder Khanna and representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. The meeting will continue till tomorrow.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Lu Kang, the main challenges before the SCO’s member States include: first, how to maintain peace, security and stability in the region, and second, combat the terrorist forces in the region and combat transnational crimes including drug trafficking. This was the first meeting of the SCO’s secretariat after the expansion of the SCO.

Lu Kang said, China hope and believe that with the expansion of the SCO, the potential of the organization to cooperate in the security field will be further developed. Cooperation in the security field will achieve even more results.
