BAHAWALPUR: Two women were injured when two mortar shells, buried under an oven (tandoor), exploded at Basti Kot Hanif, Tehsil Khairpur Tamiwali on Saturday.
Faizan Bibi and her daughter-in-law Najma Bibi were preparing breads in their house tandoor when suddenly two mortar shells, buried under the tandoor, exploded. As a result, both women were injured and rushed to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. According to Khairpur Tamiwali police, accused Sajjad, owner of the land, brought these two mortar shells from exercise area of Cholistan Desert and buried them under the earth about 12 to 13 years ago. On the day of the incident, when the women were preparing breads, the mortar shells due to extreme heat exploded and injured the women. The police have registered a case against Sajjad and started investigation.
