CHARSADDA: Three persons were killed and two others sustained injuries when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a moving car in Tala Shah Road in the limits of Umarzai Police Station here late Friday night, sources said.
The sources said that the gunmen snatched weapons from the injured and fled the scene.
They said that Sajjad, son of Noor Rahim, Kashif, son of Niazuddin and Abdul Karim, son of Gulab, were killed on the spot while Mustaghfir Shah, son of Rustam and Yar Mohammad, son of Jan Mohammad, suffered wounds in the attack.
The injured, Yar Mohammad told the police that they returned after attending a music programme at a wedding when they came under attack late at night.
The police registered the case against the accused, who managed to escape from the scene. The accused also snatched weapons from the injured before fleeing.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters District Police Officer (DPO) of Charsadda Shafiullah Khan said information was being collected about the victims.
He said the slain Sajjad had been nominated in several cases. He said a wire cutter and other gadgets were also recovered from the car of the victims.
He said the injured Yar Mohammad was also a dubious character.
Student killed in Shangla accident: A student was killed and several others sustained injuries when a school van overturned on Karakoram Highway (KKH) on Saturday, sources said.
The sources said that van (PSD-263) was carrying schoolchildren from Kohistan when it met an accident on KKH. One of the students identified as Zahir Shah was killed on the spot while others sustained injuries.
The dead and injured students were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Bisham.
