LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq said after the failure of communism and defeat of capitalism, it was the best time for Islamic movements to fill the vacuum at world level.
The need of the hour is that the Muslim world sinks its internal differences and introduce to humanity at large the Islamic system based on justice and equality to solve the problems faced by the people in every sphere of life, he said while addressing a special workshop for the party leadership at Mansoora on Saturday.
Senator Sirajul Haq said the JI was striving for a system in which human beings were not dependent or slaves of each other, and all enjoyed equal rights.
He said the country had so far been ruled by tyrants and oppressive groups who had deliberately promoted poverty, lawlessness and ignorance so that the poor, workers and tillers did not rise to their level. He said multi-national companies were the latest addition to the exploitative forces which were adopting different tactics to fleece the poor. This is a new form of terrorism, he added.
He said that conflict in the country was not between Punjabis, Sindhis, Balochis and Pathans, it was between tyrants and the oppressed. He said ruling parties had been serving their own interests even at a cost of vital national interests, with the result that the country suffered a lot of problems. As such, he said, the masses would have to change their electoral attitude in the larger interest of the country and to protect the future of their next generations.
Sirajul Haq said that the JI was making necessary changes in its strategy without compromising on its objectives. Soon, prominent people from different walks of life would be inducted into the JI and would be assigned important responsibilities. Young men known for their cultural and sports achievements would also be absorbed in the JI, he added. Besides, a large number of women, students, lawyers, farmers and workers would also be made JI members during a special drive for the purpose. He was confident that the JI would emerge as a big force in local bodies elections and the general elections.
Meanwhile, addressing a ceremony, JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said Pakistani society was being driven towards sectarianism, extremism and violence under a thought-out plan. He said the enemy agenda could be foiled through ensuring the supremacy of the constitution and the law and protecting national unity by holding fast to the country’s Islamic ideology.
Liaqat Baloch said values were crumbling because of the failure of the government system and social evils like deceit, greed and corruption were on the rise. He said the masses were in the grip of economic and energy crises while the rulers were giving an impression that the economy was improving. Major development projects of the government have become controversial and uncertainty among the people is increasing, he added.
He said after the Neelam-Jhelum project, Dyamar-Bhasha Dam project and Nandipur project, the Karachi-Lahore Motorway, Pak-China Economic Corridor and lately the NLG import had become controversial which was dangerous for the country’s economy. He demanded the government take the parliament into confidence on the issues to remove misunderstandings.
