OKARA: A suspect was killed in an encounter with Hujra Shah Moqeem police here on Thursday night.
Police signalled two suspects near Qila Sondha Singh but instead of stopping their motorcycle, they opened fire on them and escaped. To it, police started chasing them. Near Tiba Shams Kay on Chunian Road, an encounter took place between the suspects and police. As a result, an unidentified suspect was killed on the spot while his accomplice managed to escape.
TWO LAWYERS BOOKED: Sadr police booked two lawyers for beating an ASI on the district courts premises on Friday.
ASI Naveed Nazeer was busy working in the court of Magistrate Adeel Majeed when lawyers Asif Iqbal and Akif Chaudhry called him. When the policeman came out of the courtroom, the lawyers allegedly beat him and tore off his uniform.
Meanwhile, District Police Officer Muhammad Faisal Rana after receiving intimation directed the ASI to get a case registered against the lawyers.
