Call to preserve Hakara Civilisation

BAHAWALPUR: A seminar on national heritage was held at the Department of History here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, renowned archaeologist Prof Dr Rafiq from Emeritus Boston University, UAE, said ancient Hakara Civilisation once flourished in Cholistan Desert was as ancient as Mohanjudaro and Harappa. He said signs of this civilisation was still exists in various areas of Cholistan, which were needed to be preserved. Department of History chairman Dr Shahid Rizvi said Hakara Civilisation discovered from Cholistan was a hub of social, cultural and economic activities of that time and needed to be preserved.
PROTEST: Residents of Chak 8 Gujyani on Friday staged a demonstration near Chishtian against water shortage in 8 Gujyani Minor Canal.
The protesters said they were facing problems due to scarcity of water in the canal. They said water shortage in the canal had also caused shortage of drinking water in their village. They demanded the Irrigation authorities take notice of the issue.
KILLED ON ROAD: A five-year-old boy was killed while his father sustained injuries in a road accident near Chak 40 Fateh on Thursday night.
Muhammad Yaqoob and his father Maqsood were on their way on a bicycle when a speeding motorcycle rickshaw hit them. As a result, Yaqoob died on the spot while Maqsood sustained injuries.
